About This Place

Nestled right on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, Sandy's Beach Shack is an inviting American restaurant, bar & grill, seafood haven, and spirited sports bar all rolled into one vibrant beachside hotspot. This beloved eatery perfectly captures the laid-back yet lively spirit of southern California dining, offering a fresh and flavorful menu that celebrates coastal flavors with a distinctly local twist.

Step inside or grab a seat on the breezy patio, and you instantly feel the warm, casual ambiance that makes Sandy’s more than just a place to eat—it’s a community gathering spot where great food, refreshing drinks, and good times come together. The inviting beach shack vibe is matched by genuine, friendly service, praised repeatedly by guests for being both attentive and accommodating, even when hosting large groups or four-legged friends.

The menu reads like a love letter to the sea with tantalizing highlights such as the Mahi Mahi Tacos, bursting with tender, mildly sweet fish wrapped in fresh tortillas, or the iconic Fish & Chips featuring a generous 10-ounce Alaskan cod, perfectly battered in ale and malt vinegar, crisped to golden perfection and served alongside classic cole slaw. For those craving layered tastes, the Ahi Poke Stack delivers a vibrant combination of fresh ahi tuna in a beautifully stacked presentation that’s as visually stunning as it is delicious.

But Sandy’s isn’t just about seafood—the Locals Burger, crafted from Certified Angus beef and topped with cheddar and 1000 island dressing on a buttery brioche bun, offers a hearty, juicy option that locals rave about. The adventurous palate will delight in the Luau Burger, where Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and pineapple meet teriyaki sauce in a sweet and savory embrace. For lighter, fresher fare, dishes like Salmon Tacos and the Shrimp Salad combine vibrant seaside ingredients with crisp, healthy sides.

Cocktail lovers are in for a treat as well—Sandy’s Famous Mai Tai comes highly recommended by regulars who have toasted countless sunsets with this perfectly balanced tropical classic. The menu also features creative handcrafted beverages like the South Side Margarita and the non-alcoholic but equally refreshing Virgin Bloody Mary, ensuring there’s something for every mood. Pair your meal with an impressive selection of craft beers or a cold brew coffee for a pick-me-up.

One of the stand-out charms of Sandy's Beach Shack is its open arms to the whole family—including furry members. Several reviews highlight the dog-friendly nature of the establishment, with special dog food options ensuring no guest is left out of the dining experience. Whether it’s breakfast with the chorizo skillet or a casual lunch with a fresh sandwich, every visit feels personal and welcoming.

While the prices may reflect its desirable beachfront location, many patrons find the experience and quality worth every penny. The impeccable food quality, coupled with the vibrant beach vibes and heartfelt service, set Sandy’s apart as a Huntington Beach institution you’ll want to return to again and again.

For anyone craving an authentic taste of coastal California with robust American flavors, dynamic cocktails, and an inclusive atmosphere, Sandy’s Beach Shack is a must-visit destination. It invites you to savor the sounds of crashing waves, the scent of the ocean breeze, and a plate full of unforgettable dishes that celebrate the sun-soaked spirit of Huntington Beach.

Service, ambiance, and food were amazing! We had a large group and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chorizo skillet for breakfast, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito, and our dog ordered the chicken plate with kibble. All that being said, this place is a must when visiting Huntington Beach!

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. They also offer an impressive selection of beers, which paired perfectly with the meal. The option to sit inside or outside was a nice touch, adding to the overall vibe. While the service was a tad slow, the incredible food and great atmosphere more than made up for it. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a tasty meal and a relaxed dining experience!

Congratulations to Sandy's on their 8 year on the beach!! We've been lucky enough to enjoy the food, drinks and location for just about the same amount of time. Most of all though, we've enjoyed getting to know the Sandy's team over the years. Fabulous people everyone of them! Attached is a photo of the first of many (too many??) MaiTai's enjoyed over the years taken in November of 2017. Also, it's November, remember to get the Turkey Balls! Terrific!!! Cheers!!!

Usually if I have negative things to say about a restaurant that does most things well is that it's just too expensive. And you add the fact it's Newport Beach Huntington Beach. Then you know it's going to be expensive. And it's not cheap. There's no doubt about that but it wasn't outrageous. Their signature cocktails or 1617 bucks but they were strong enough. Same thing with the food good. It's really good and reasonable for the environment that you're in and that's the kicker the environment that you're in. This place sits below Duke's right next to the Huntington Beach Pier. It's right on the water. Essentially views are great. Atmosphere is great. Chill and pleasant. The food was as I said pretty good to really good. They had this turkey ball thing that was delicious. Kind of like Thanksgiving dinner and a little ball of potatoes cranberry sauce, turkey. Delicious! That's what my wife had. I had the mahi tacos and they were also very good and not cheap but not crazy. Finally, when you're looking at a restaurant and trying to review it, service can be critical, especially if the other narratives are not great. Here the restaurant was a great experience. I really enjoyed it but the cherry on top was the service. Now, she did not have a lot of tables so she was able to dedicate time to us but she did and she was nice. Sweet, informative and just a very good server. Super five stars. Usually reserved for White table, restaurants, Michelin star restaurants where the food is. Just fantastic and this food was very good but it's all the ancillary things. Every single thing about it was good. I didn't even mention the fact that the TV situation if you don't want to sit on the patio is really good to watch football games. Great Bar bartender. They knocked it out of the park at least the night we were there.

This is a great place right at the beach! To be honest: I didn’t expect such good food in a „beach cafe“. I was positively surprised! All the dishes were super fresh, very tasty, the sweet potato fries were crunchy! Our server Lisa was friendly, attentive & always with a smile. Thank you!

Absolutely love Sandy’s Beach Shack, a must stop for us whenever we are in town. The best ceviche and fish tacos, with the best beach vibes.
